There has
been many civilizations in the country of Zimbabwe,
dating all the
way back to the stone age. In the 1890's the British
invaded Zimbabwe
and began mining for mostly gold and copper, they named
the
country Rhodesia. By early 1900's there were no
educational rights for
blacks and only 2% of the black population could vote in
their own country.
By the 1960's there was great warfare by African parties
who were tired of
the oppression, many died some were imprisoned. As a
result over 27 000
were dead by 1979. Finally in 1980 after the first free
elections an
African prime minister won and named the country
Zimbabwe. A great
celebration ceremony was held and Bob Marley came and
performed
his song called "Zimbabwe", that he wrote for the
country.
Zimbabwe a country once rich in land, resources and wild
animals has
seriously deteriorated, it was once one of the wealthier
countries in Africa.
Now Zimbabwe is hurting from the effects of poverty and
disease,
but it is still one of the most beautiful countries you
can ever experience.
It has beautiful friendly people, the world's largest
waterfall and much more...
